The shell is faster when search and shortcuts are part of the workflow.
Polystro includes a command-palette style search surface and configurable keybindings because a multi-session desktop shell becomes frustrating quickly if every navigation step requires pointer work.
Command Palette
The search dialog acts like a command palette for files, sessions, workstreams, branches, and actions. It is meant to be the quickest way to jump into the next relevant context when you already know what you need.
Search Prefixes
Default file search
Type normally to search files in the current scope.
% for session content
Use a session-content search when you want a prior thread or message, not a file.
@ for branches
Search branch names quickly when switching workstream execution context.
# for workstreams, > for commands
Jump to another workstream or invoke shell-level commands directly from the search flow.
Session Shortcuts
Fixed session shortcuts let you jump across active sessions quickly. This matters once the shell is doing what it is supposed to do and you have several tabs or workstreams active at once.
Custom Keybindings
The Settings surface also supports recorded keybindings with conflict detection. That makes the shell easier to adapt to an existing workflow instead of forcing a fixed hotkey map on every user.
